January Devotional
I, Carol McLeod, being of sound mind
and middle-aged body, hereby resolve in the year
of 2008:
1 - I will
keep my eyes on Jesus and not on the storm! I will believe with my whole heart that
He is good all the time ... and that I don't need to
worry about anything. He's got it covered!
2 - I will go to
the Word of God for all my life's answers and not
to the world for its counterfeit solutions. The
world and its culture are temporary ... Oprah,
as wonderful as she is, doesn't always know what
she is talking about ... neither do Dr. Phil, Katie
Couric or any presidential candidate! I will choose
to love the Word of God and to spend time every
day in 2008 allowing the Bible to transform me.
3 - I will choose
wisely what influences me. I
will be selective in how I spend my days ...
4 - I will hold
babies and listen to older people. I
will look into the faces of teen-agers and watch
the flowers grow in my back yard. I will have
lunch with friends and not look at my watch. I
will read books to children and laugh at their jokes. I
will hold my husband's hand.
5 - I will choose
joy ... because when I choose joy ... I am choosing
to stay in His presence where there is always fullness
of joy! I will not allow
my disappointments and my circumstances to determine
my emotional stability. I will choose defiant
joy!
What are you resolving this year?
To lose weight? To make more money? To get your closets
in order? How about resolving to love more ... to
worry less ... and to simply choose joy?! It sounds
like a great life to me!
