November Devotional
I know ... I know ... you are expecting
me to write about pilgrims and turkey and thankful
hearts because it is November, right?! Well
... actually ... you are one-third right! I am
going to remind you (and me!) of the value of a thankful
heart.
If you want
to be a woman of victory and joy - then you must have an attitude of gratitude.
If you long for peace in your life and a spring in
your step - then you must not forget to say "Thank
You, God!"
If you want people to be your friend - then you must
be a woman who peppers her speech with words like,
"That means the world to me!"
"I am so glad that I know you!"
"You are always so kind to me!"
"From the bottom of my heart ... thank you!"
Instead
of going through life always wishing for what someone else has or being disappointed
by what you don't have, I'd like to encourage you during this month when the
world pauses to show their gratitude, to be a Christian identified by simply
having a grateful heart.
Rather than
lingering over my words ... I have decided to share with you
some of the Scriptures that call us to a lifestyle of thanksgiving. You
might want to print these out on 3 x 5 cards and carry them around with you
this month ... or maybe ... for the next 12 months!
"Let
the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called to
one body, and be thankful." Colossians 3:15
"Enter
His gates with thanksgiving and
His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him,
bless His Name." Psalm 100:4
"Now
He Who supplies seed to the sower and bread for
food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing
and increase the harvest of your righteousness;
you will be enriched in everything for all liberality
which through us is producing thanksgiving to
God." II Corinthians 9: 10 & 11
"Be
anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving,
let your requests be made known to God. And
the peace of God that surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus." Philippians 4: 6 & 7
"Devote
yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with
an attitude of thanksgiving." Colossians
4:2
